Law And Order Uk Tv
Why is The Wire not on UK Network TV (BBC, Channel 4, Five)?
Why is The Wire not on UK Network TV (BBC, Channel 4, Five)? It is clearly one of the best shows on crime and law. CSI, Law & Order and NCIS are shown, even The Shield, so why not The Wire? I don’t get it…
I think it was on FX or one of tose other cable/satelite channels like Bravo. You would have to ask the controller of the stations that you mention but I imagine that there is only so much air time to go around, and the BBC tends to produce its own shows rather than buy in American crap which are snapped up by sky once they generate an audience. There isn’t a lot of loyalty, take 24, Prison Break and lost for example, they build up an audience on terrestrial and then Sky offers a few dollars more and takes them on just like with the football, and the fans have to get satelite tv to watch them. There is a whole list of shows which the Beeb and the itv channels made popular only to have them snatched from under their noses because they couldn’t afford them but it’s a con with Sky because 3/4 of the time they show repeats of malcolm in the middle, futurama and the simpsons. The rest of the time they repeat everything about 5 or 6 times a week, and they got 3 channels of entertainment, at least with the beeb etc they don’t repeat things all the time!
